The 40V max XGT® Brushless Cordless 1-3/16" AVT® Rotary Hammer Kit accepts SDS-PLUS bits, AFT®, AWS® Capable (model GRH08M1) is a cordless concrete solution designed for heavy-load applications. It delivers the power, speed, and run-time for corded demands, without the cord.
The GRH08M1 is powered by a 40V max lithium-ion battery with a Makita-built brushless motor that combine to deliver the power and performance required for heavy-load applications. It can deliver up to 135 of 3/8" holes using a fully charged 40V XGT® 4.0Ah battery*. The variable speed dial and trigger enables user to match the speed to the application.
This hard-hitting performance is combined with advanced comfort and convenience features including Active Feedback-Sensing Technology (AFT®), which electronically turns off the motor if rotation of bit is suddenly forced to stop. It is also equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®) for reduced vibration. More than just a padded handle, AVT is an internal counterbalance that uses air pressure to move counterweight pistons in the opposite direction of the drive piston to actively reduce vibration. In addition, the vibration-absorbing back handle and side handle are engineered to further reduce vibration. For added durability in harsh job site conditions, Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) is engineered for improved dust and water resistance.
The GRH08M1 has dust extraction capability (sold separately) and is OSHA Table 1 compliant with an on-board HEPA Dust Extractor or stand-alone AWS® Extractor options. For added efficiency, the Rotary Hammer is equipped with Auto-Start Wireless System (AWS®), which uses Bluetooth® technology for wireless power-on and power-off communication between the equipped tool and dust extractor (sold separately). Once connected via AWS, the AWS-equipped dust extractor will automatically power on or off when the AWS-equipped cordless tool starts or stops, running only when the tool is in use. This increases productivity on a single charge and reduces continuous noise at the job or work site.
Constant speed control automatically applies additional power under load for optimum performance. The torque limiting clutch is engineered to prevent gear damage by automatically disengaging the gears if the bit binds, and constant speed control automatically adds power to the motor to maintain speed under load to complete the most demanding jobs.
Additional performance features include an electric brake, a built-in L.E.D. light, and an ergonomic soft-grip handle with a large 2-finger trigger that provides increased comfort on the job. It also features a retractable hook that allows the tool to be secured when not in use.
It has 3-modes of operation for "Rotation Only", "Hammering with Rotation" or "Hammering Only" for multiple applications. The GRH08M1 is ideal for a range of trades including mechanical/electrical/plumbing contractors, concrete contractors, road and bridge contractors, utility workers, pest control, maintenance operations, and more. It accepts SDS-PLUS bits.

Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®) is a counterbalance system inside the tool that significantly reduces vibration. The AVT® counterbalance design is based on seismic engineering, which developed this damping science to absorb shocks and protect buildings from earthquakes. AVT® uses a mechanical damper, effectively a counterbalance weight inside the tool, that provides an equal and opposite force that puts a mass directly opposite the point where the striker bolt delivers the impact. As vibration is eliminated, power is efficiently increased which allows more of the generated energy in the motor to be delivered to the tool bit. Makita also has an AVT® counterbalance system in select recipro saws. For users, AVT® means significantly less vibration with no compromise in power and performance.
